When Mark Gvist graduated magna cum laude with
research honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1988, he picked Carlisle, IA, as the perfect location for a clinic to serve central Iowa families living in the capital city, its
suburbs and smaller surrounding communities. Previously Dr. Gvist had studied at Olympic College (Bremerton, WA) and the University of Florida (Gainesville) after serving as a hospital
corpsman in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Dr. Gvist performed medical/surgical support services in San Diego, CA; Key West, FL; and Bremerton, WA.
During his more than a quarter century of clinical practice, Dr. Gvist has amassed hundreds of hours of continuing education programs in orthopedics, neurology, radiology, diagnosis, nutrition, acupuncture, low level lasers and patient management. He’s been certified as a Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and earned his Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma (CCST) designation. Dr. Gvist has treated more than 4,000 spinal cases at his clinic and guides clients in leading a healthy lifestyle. Carlisle Chiropractic Clinic also provides custom foot orthotics, vitamins/supplements, cervical pillows, TENS units and other health related items.
Dr. Gvist is an active member of the Iowa Chiropractic Society, serving on numerous state committees since 1988. By appointment of the governor he served on the Committee on Health Care Reform and its Scope of Service Subcommittee in Iowa. He’s also been a member of the executive committee of the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce and led that group as president in 1991. In his free time Dr. Gvist enjoys hiking, biking and photography, as well as family time with his wife and children.
